At Tech Nottingham we are very pleased to present our morning event Tech on Toast.

Come along before work to get a free breakfast, to hear some of Nottingham's brightest talk about their companies and their projects and to socialise with the other members of the local tech community.

We'll be serving a range of breakfast options in a relaxed environment and all are welcome, regardless of technical background.

And what's more - This month Accelerate Places are offering 10 free desk spaces to Tech on Toast guests!  Located on the first floor, they'll be available from 9am to 5pm on the day.

What’s on this month?

February’s Tech on Toast will feature two brilliant talks from the local tech community!  Each talk is short and snappy; designed to kick-start conversation and give you some tangible ideas to take away.

An Insight into Design Methodology

by Helen Clark

Being a digital designer can be hard to define. There are a variety of job titles resulting in designers having different titles but working in the same way. On the flip side, there are designers with the same job title taking very different approaches.

In the sometimes confusing, but always exciting, world of digital design, it's up to designers to forge their own path. In this short talk, Helen will take you on a tour of her design methodology which involves emojis, scribbles and asking ‘what if…?’

About Helen

Helen Clark (@littlehelli) is an independent UX consultant and designer leading the creative direction and user experience of product and web design projects. She works within the principle of Universal Design; creating empathetic, accessible and user-centred products that also meet business needs and goals. She is also co-organiser of WiT Nottingham and loves coffee and learning new things.

The Trello Calendar Connector

by Harry Boyes

Come along this month to learn more about the Trello Calendar Connector by Cronofy.  This fantastic tool seamlessly integrates Trello boards with our calendars, in a way that’s just not possible with a traditional one-way Calendar feed.

About Harry

Harry Boyes (@haziba) is a developer at Cronofy, amateur game maker, enjoyer of Magic, board games, and is an upsettingly poor League of Legends player.

The Venue

Tech on Toast is held at the awesome Accelerate Places on Wollaton Street, near the Theatre Royal in Nottingham City Centre. With a top-notch cafe and amphitheatre style seating; it’s the perfect venue in which to spend your morning.

The DateTime

The next event starts at 7.30am on Wednesday 15th February - After that, it’s the third Wednesday of every month. We’ll see you there!
